Meet the Family: Darlyn

What day is it? It's Meet the Family Friday! 🎉 Today, we spotlight current Upward Scholars student Darlyn.

Darlyn is a Guatemalan immigrant completing the ESL pathway at Cañada College. As an Upward Scholars student, she benefits from our laptop, textbook, tutoring, transportation, and food assistance programs. Since joining Upward Scholars in 2020, Darlyn says, "Being a part of this beautiful family means a lot to me because you support me in so many ways. You motivate me to continue my education and it means so much to me to see how you celebrate me and my achievements."

For many immigrants who are in this country alone, like Darlyn, Upward Scholars truly becomes their chosen family; their familia de corazón. 💙🧡 She says, "Without Upward Scholars, I probably wouldn't be here right now making progress toward my dreams. Thank you so much for all your support and for believing in me. You are the family I always knew I needed in the United States."
