Meet the Family: Annie

Happy Meet the Family Friday! Today, we spotlight Upward Scholars tutor Annie.

Annie has been an Upward Scholars tutor since 2019 and has worked with the same student the entire time. She says, "It has been such an honor to be part of this organization. As a tutor, I discovered an untapped skill set and creativity that I didn’t know I possessed, and I created an amazing friendship with my tutee, Griselda, over the last three years. I feel so much pride and joy in seeing her evolve and confidently navigate her coursework. I am thankful to Upward Scholars for surrounding me with such passionate and driven people that it really motivates tutors like me to want to do more."

Like Annie, many tutors form strong friendships with our students and work with them over the years, supporting their academic and professional trajectories. These bonds motivate students to keep making progress toward their goals because they know they have amazing cheerleaders beside them.
