Meet the Family: Nikita

Happy Meet the Family Friday! To celebrate Upward Scholars' first semester at the Peralta Community Colleges in Alameda County and in honor of APIDA History Month, meet Nikita.

Nikita is a Chinese immigrant studying nursing at Berkeley City College. As part of our first group of PCCD students, she has been instrumental in spreading the word about Upward Scholars and encouraging her peers at BCC to join the family. She is astonished at the level of support we offer students and has already benefitted from life-changing textbook and transportation support, grocery assistance, and a desktop computer.

She says, "Thank you so much for my iMac desktop. I'm using it every day for homework. I truly appreciate the financial support that Upward Scholars and the passionate team have offered to me. My textbooks are very costly, and they only get more expensive as I progress. I don’t know how I could afford it without Upward Scholars. Your support and generosity encourage me to overcome hardships to continuously focus on my educational goals. I'm sharing information about your organization with my fellow students and trying to spread Upward Scholars' positive vibe to reach more students who are in need."
