Fabrice Uwihirwe
AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow

Fabrice Uwihirwe was born in Rwanda, where he learned the importance of education early on from his mother, who taught primary school. After moving to the United States, he learned more about the systems and institutions that often bar the African diaspora and other immigrant communities from accessing a standard of living necessary for a fulfilling life. As a result, Fabrice decided to dedicate his life to serving marginalized communities, and this passion has taken many forms, such as volunteering, conducting academic research, and mentoring. While social justice work takes many forms and intersects in several ways, Mr. Uwihirwe chooses to channel his experiences to primarily focus on championing education and housing rights to achieve upward mobility for marginalized groups. For this reason, he is excited to work with Upward Scholars as an AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow.
